SINGAPORE, Feb. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — WiFi Master Key (https://goo.gl/BLA6zG), an app that lets users crowdsource login credentials for WiFi hotspots, extends its strong global growth by obtaining 50 million installs on Google Play, and it now draws in about 1.5 million new users globally every day.
The mobile app – which lets users easily and safely connect to WiFi hotspots shared by other users – has significantly enlarged its user base since its global office launched six months ago, with users in 223 countries and regions across the globe.
According to the lead of WiFi Master Key’s global operation office, alone in the overseas market outside of China, the app now has over 10 million daily active users. As of 10 Feb 2016, it topped the Google Play tools chart in 34 countries all around the world, including Vietnam, Brazil, Egypt, Russia and more. In the mean while, it has also been in the top 10 tools charts in 87 countries, including both developed economies such as Hong Kong and Japan, and also emerging economies such as India.
By taking Mainland China into the picture, this WiFi sharing community has over 460 million monthly active users, and assists more than 4 billion connections every day to empower all users in the community.
To help the company keep and attract the best talents, it has also been announced recently that all its employees would get 12 months’ salary as an annual bonus. Eyebrows have been raised even though WiFi Master Key has a track record of rewarding its employees handsomely: last year, every staff member received a Tesla as bonus. Furthermore, in October 2015, it began paying its employees’ parents a “monthly salary” as a sign of appreciation for the family’s support, and a gesture to salute the traditional Asian culture.
WiFi Master Key CEO and Founder, Mr Chen Danian said: “We hope to empower more people to get online, so that they can find their own chance to change their lives.”
Since the fast-growing company set up a regional headquarter in Singapore in May and embarked on its overseas operations in September, the app has seen a strong surge in popularity globally, as it helps a rapidly expanding community get online across the world, where the “sharing economy” – popularised by apps including Uber and Airbnb – is increasingly embraced.
