Dish’s HopperGO wireless mobile video drive is now shipping – CNET

Back at CES in January, satellite service provider Dish announced its new 16-tuner Hopper 3 and a little device called HopperGO, a $99 portable Wi-Fi-enabled “mobile video drive” allows you to take your shows with you.

Back at CES in January, satellite service provider Dish announced its new 16-tuner Hopper 3 and a little device called HopperGO, a $99 portable Wi-Fi-enabled “mobile video drive” allows you to take your shows with you. Hopper 3 began shipping earlier this year and now Dish subscribers can officially purchase the HopperGO.

You can use HopperGO to create a private Wi-Fi cloud to play back different transferred shows on up to five devices at once, meaning several viewers can be watching a different show off HopperGO at the same time. It’s got 64GB of internal flash memory for storing up to 100 hours of content and battery life is rated at 4 hours.

Needless to say, for parents who have multiple children, the HopperGO would certainly come in handy on long car rides.
